Orchard guests are invited to enjoy formal or informal tours of our operation. Guests are always welcome to stroll around the farm and orchard, question employees and observe our picking, packaging and cider production when ongoing.
Formal tours are arranged by appointment and usually involve a nominal fee. Tours involve walking in the orchard, picking apples and instruction on the history of orchards, apple production, storage and processing. The average tour lasts about 1 hour and includes some picked apples and a small snack.
Ditzler Orchard has pressed fresh apple cider for over 35 years. We use only tree-picked fruit of mixed varieties to create a unique blend with each pressing. Fresh cider contains natural yeast that will begin to work on the sugars of the juice after about 25 days in cold storage and 25 hours in warm. We press weekly during the picking season and bi-weekly in late autumn to ensure freshness. We continue to press until winter sets in or the apples run out. Frozen cider is usually available during the off season and often into the summer months.
